Dr. Yeager and Dr. Deardorff will highlight ways to dig deeper into students' strengths throughout the transition planning process. Their presentation will be followed by an engaging discussion with educators, services providers, researchers, & others interested in making the most of transition planning for youth with disabilities.

This event is FREE to VADCDT and/or DCDT members.

The cost is $15 for non-members.

 

About the Presenters

Dr. Malarie Deardorff is the assistant director of the Zarrow Center for Learning Enrichment and assistant research professor at the University of Oklahoma. Her research interests are in transition assessments, incorporating transition practices into elementary and middle school classrooms, and compliance and quality transition planning. Prior to her work at the Zarrow Center, Malarie was a special education teacher for several years in Oklahoma public schools.

Dr. Kristopher Yeager is an assistant professor in special education at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). His research interests are informal transition assessments and interviews, self-advocacy and social support, and student and family involvement in transition planning. Prior to working at UTEP, Kris was a high school special education teacher and literacy coach in Nevada public schools.
